Meghan’s YAGM Bio
Hello! My name is Meghan Schaeffer, and I just graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Anthropology and a minor in Spanish. I am heavily involved in the Lutheran community, as I was a resident of Emmaus Campus Ministry in Missoula, Montana throughout my years at college. Much of my leadership experience with the church has been through youth ministry, as I have been associate youth director at the United Church of Christ in Missoula and a camp counselor at both Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp and Christikon Bible Camp.
I am very excited to tell you about my discernment with Young Adults on Global Mission for this next year. For those of you who don’t know, Young Adults on Global Mission (or YAGM for short) is an organization within the ELCA that invites young adults on a year of service abroad to accompany partner churches and programs.
Although I don’t know my exact service assignment yet, I am excited to know that I will be living in the Misiones province of Argentina this upcoming year. Many times the service at these sites include children’s ministry, education, help with older or disabled community members, and nonprofit organizations in the area.
Part of my responsibility is to fundraise one-third of the cost it takes for me to participate next year. This money goes directly back to the ELCA’s YAGM program to help myself and others partake in this incredible experience. If you are willing and able, I would ask that you kindly make a donation to this program.
Thank you so much for your generosity, and the willingness to support my time with the Young Adults on Global Mission this next year.
